Oscars 2011 - Livia Firth unveils the first ever Fairtrade Fairmined Ecological jewellery – a collaboration between CRED Jewellery and Anna Loucah

Livia Firth ethical Oscars Jewellery
When we started CRED jewellery we had the aim of creating Fairtrade gold and the dream that one day it would be worn on the red carpet, roll on ten years and mission accomplished.
CRED is delighted that Livia Firth wore the first ever Fairtrade Fairmined Ecological gold jewellery at the Oscars 2011 ceremony, as part of her Green Carpet ChallengeLivia shows one more time that fashion can be altogether desirable and guilt free with a delightful set designed and hand made by goldsmith Anna Loucah in collaboration with CRED Jewellery.
The jewellery is the first in the world to be stamped as Fairtrade Fairmined Ecological. Created with OroVerde gold from Colombia - the world’s only source of Fairtrade Fairmined Ecological gold - and featuring 35cts of gorgeous traceable Aquamarines from a community mine in Zambia and Jeweltree diamonds from the Liqhobong Women Miners Cooperative in Lesotho.

‘We associate gold with love and beauty but there is often nothing beautiful about the way that gold is produced. Tens of millions of small-scale gold miners risk their lives in often appalling conditions and get a raw deal for their strenuous efforts. There is a real need for consumers to demand higher standards when they purchase gold and they can do this by getting behind this new and important initiative.’ Livia Firth

The Worlds' first Fairtrade Fairmined Ecological Gold has arrived!

Last week, moments after the the press launch for Fairtrade Fairmined Gold we received the gold that you see in the image above. This raw (unrefined) gold is the culmination of 10 years work for us at CRED Jewellery, it is the worlds first certifiable Fairtrade Fairmined Ecoligical gold from Oro Verde. We have big plans for this first small batch and as you read it is being crafted into jewellery for a very special occasion at the end of the month.

Emily is wearing...Daisy Knights

It's safe to say Emily is now addicted to Daisy Knights, however she is not the only one from CRED who is. The silver feather tie charm bracelet hasn't left Emily's wrist since getting it but this week she has added another piece to her jewellery box in the shape of the feather drop earrings.

With Daisy's pieces being seen in Vogue, ELLE.com, Grazia  and on the likes of Daisy Lowe and Alexa Chung it's no surprise she is getting a large fan base.  And because all of Daisy's piece are made from 100% recycled sterling silver you never have to feel bad wearing them. No wonder our wish list is so long. If you want to try these pieces for yourself pop into our Chichester boutique, we can promise you that you will not be disappointed!

CRED loves surprises

Over the weekend we had a wonderful surprise. Tania Kowalski from Oria Ethical Jewellery popped into the Chichester Boutique on Saturday for a lovely chat and catch up. As well as telling us about exciting new ideas they are having over at Oria, we learnt more about the beautiful new Hares &Meadow and Bees collections. These new collections are available both in the Chichester Boutique and online and are defiantly worth looking at. And Emily left the shop a very happy girl with a new sleeping cat charm bracelet on her wrist which was kindly given to her from Tania. We do love surprises!
